Parking:
Due to the number of runners this year we need to use additional parking at the Gun Lake beach and picnic area about a mile away. We will have a bus shuttling runners from the Gun Lake lot to the start/finish and back from 7:30 am to 12:30 pm.

10k runners: Because the 10k runners are starting later and finishing earlier we are asking you to park at Gun Lake and take the shuttle. Click here for a map to the Gun Lake parking area.

25k and 50k runners: There will be parking for the 25k and 50k runners at the Long Lake Outdoor Center. Watch for signs and volunteers directing traffic.

As always we encourage runners to carpool as much as possible to ease the parking situation.

Packet pickup:
Thursday, January 3, 4:00 pm-8:00 pm at Gazelle Sports in Grand Rapids
Friday, January 4, 6:00 pm-8:00 pm at the Long Lake Outdoor Center (start/finish)
Saturday, January 5 starting at 7:00 am at the Long Lake Outdoor Center (start/finish)

Course marking: The course will be marked with blue flags for the 10k and orange flags for the 25k. The 50k is 2 laps of the 25k. Click here for a course map.

Note that there may be a change in the course depending on the snow. If there is little or no snow we will be using the Hall Lake trail at the beginning of the course. If there is snow we will be using the dirt road going up to the Devil’s Soup Bowl and leaving the Hall Lake trail for the skiers to use. Even with this change some of our course may be shared with cross country skiers. If you see skiers on the course, be courteous, and as much as possible stay to the right of the ski tracks.

Aid stations: There will be 4 aid stations on the 25k course and 2 on the 10k course. We will also have one at the start/finish for 50k runners. All of the aid stations will serve water, Gatorade, oranges, bananas, and a variety of sweet and salty snacks. The second and fourth aid stations on the 25 k course will also serve soup, pb&j, and grilled cheese sandwiches.

Note that we are not providing gel, so if you plan to use gels, we recommend carrying your own supply of your favorite flavor.

Drop bags: There will be a spot for drop bags for the 50k runners by the start/finish aid station.

Post-race food: By popular demand we will again be serving chili in the lodge after the race. The chili is prepared by our friend Kim at Schnitz Deli South. We will also have bagels, fruit, and hot chocolate.

Awards:
Back by popular demand we will have snow globes for all finishers!
First place overall male and female finishers will receive Montrail shoes.
Second and third overall male and female finishers will receive Mountain Hardwear beanies and arm warmers.
There will also be first, second, and third place age group awards.

We have had an overwhelming response this year and the race is filled up!

Lodging: We recommend staying in a cabin right by the start/finish. To rent a cabin at the Long Lake Outdoor Center you may contact Rick or Mary directly at 269-795-7886.

If you prefer a hotel, check out the Bay Pointe Inn on Gun Lake. Mention Yankee Springs Trail Run for a 10% discount.

Michigan Recreation Passport: Michigan residents need the Recreation Passport on their license tabs. The Recreation Passport is $10 per year and is sold at the Secretary of State office with your car registration. It is also available at the park. Out-of-state residents need a day pass for $8 or an annual pass for $29, which are also available at the park. Click here for more information for more information about the Recreation Passport.
